You have turned on every switch

every nerve is now of grave concern
you pulled strings that were entangled;
drew out what was inadvertently mangled

I am an awkward student of your endeavor
a novice enthralled by your ardent attention
one more smile at me from your eyes,
and I will be unable to rise from the table

when we speak your words are lost in the tangled woods
I am drawn to your mouth, and cannot hear a sound
your gravitational lure creates an over-heated circuit
my heart registers an increase in the barometric pressure

you have made this blade of brutal desire that will not fade
set me free from my unholy hutch or see me quietly insane!
I need to be a woman again, not only in name

release what I once was to smolder in the warmth of your arms
anchor me with your embrace, or let me drift in an ungentle sea,
while I wait for my fate to identify me.
