Elderly: the evil twin of old.

I don't mind getting old but I become practically unhinged at the idea of becoming \"elderly\". I was reminded of this by the Oklahoma tornado reports, which referenced two \"elderly\" men who died in the disaster. So often, the context of the word seems to be closely related to \"victim\", as in the \"elderly victim of a mugging\" or a \"scam that targeted the elderly\". Thus, I now think of \"elderly\" as this highly vulnerable group, constantly prey to calamity, abusive relatives and random home invasion... as opposed to just plain \"old\" people, who ostensibly lead more balanced lives.
