This weekend was the family reunion for one part of my dad's family, and we were supposed to go up until about a half hour before we were going to leave.
The story I heard was that he didn't feel like driving that far (half hour) and that we had too much to get done today (uhm nothing?). So okay whatever, I took it and just spent the day reading and drawing.
Right before lunch he was talking to his girlfriend, neither of them knew I could hear them because I was on the stairs. Basically:
\"What's the real reason you guys didn't go today?\"
\"Because I knew they couldn't handle it. I knew they'd hear that she is now saying that she's a boy and instantly start lecturing and discluding.\"
\"So you're afraid of what they'll think?\"
\"No. I just know she won't be able to handle it. And I don't want to be seen as the parent of two troubled kids. One is bad enough, but two really makes you a fuck up.\"
About then the stairs creaked so they saw me... I couldn't say anything but push past them and tell him that \"pronouns really aren't that difficult\"
He still hasn't spoken to me.
