Like so many, I was outraged and saddened, but not surprised, by the 7/13 acquittal of George Zimmerman in Trayvon Martin's death. Zimmerman should've stayed in his car and Martin should be alive, end of story. Except, tragically, that's not how the story ends. What I'm left with, besides a renewed passion to see legislative reform, is the image of Trayvon on that fateful night--not a thug, but a human being, a teen who did not deserve to die and should never have been defined by his hoodie.
