Where is home, once you've left?

My first serious poetic effort. It's awful; but it was a start:

On the tubes
and trains of London
I sat,
searching for Irishness,

but no brogue reached me
over the din;
no face
mirrored my own.

If they spoke aloud –
I did not hear them.
If they were present,
I did not see them.

we are not such
a distinctive people,
after all.

And now, years on,
I understand why I wish for home;
why people live
to go there;

we must go back.
Because I do,

Back and forth,
forth and back.
where is it, once you’ve left?
