I find the mechanics of the service (please turn to page 154) and the Hebrew, which I can recite, but do not understand, distract me from the purpose of being in synagogue. So today I sat, and stood, with my prayer book closed, and tried to be truly present in that moment. To listen to voices as if they were a single voice, and let that voice move through me as I reflected on what has been and dared to hope for something better from myself, for myself and my community, and our world.
