It's Rosh Hashana. My sister-in-law, Robyn and her 2 kids were asked to please dress appropriately for dinner. Joan had cooked all day, the day before. Her house was clean. She uses a walker, her husband is incapacitated by a stroke. She just wanted to see everyone look nice. Robyn and Max wore t-shirts and cargo shorts. Max's girlfriend wore pajama bottoms. My niece wore Daisy Dukes. Even my hubby refused to change out of the clothes he had cut the grass in. I'm with Joan on this one. It's a religious family dinner. Look nice, out of respect. Joan wouldn't talk to anyone but me that night. One day with the in-laws provides so much material; so many questions.
