From my 17th floor office in midtown Manhattan, stood in horror with colleagues as we watched the second tower fall on September 11, 2001. I lost a bunch of colleagues that day, including a very dear friend. I left her countless messages that afternoon on her answering machine, imploring her to call me whatever time of day or night. I shudder to think of how awful it must've been for her parents to have to listen to those messages when they realised with horror she was not actually 'missing'.
I've written lots about 9/11. Pardon my excessive sixes on this topic. It was an unforgettable day, a day that the world changed forever, and not for the better.
May G-d bless all those who gave their lives helping, saving, rescuing their fellow human beings. A dark day in the history of humanity.
