I don't know how many times in the last few days I've said that to someone. Either talking about foster care or my siblings or whatever and having someone (usually not even involved in the conversation) say "Oh god that's terrible, your family's so messed up." Eh shit happens, and if you think you're family's perfect or "normal" then you're in for a huge shock some day.
