Last night I told this boy that I'm having a thing with that I missed him, and today he asked why. I was honest and said that we hadn't really seen each other lately and I missed him because he was my friend. He sort of laughed at me and said, "oh, just your friend?" and I kind of back-tracked because, no, he's not just my friend, but he's not just anything else either. He's all of it, and also none of it. So I replied and said, "well, no. You're just you." He was quiet for a moment before replying, "yeah, I get you." And we pretty much established that we're just each other to each other. This probably only makes sense when it's not explained at length, but oh well.
