Careers

Join Our Team!

As a Six-Word Memoirs®  intern, you’ll have opportunities to be part of a small, smart, and intensely driven team building the world’s largest short-form storytelling community. You need to be sharp, creative, self-motivated, professional, and have a passion for storytelling. The well intentioned but ultimately flaky should not apply. And seriously, do a gut check—we work too hard to have time to reign in unfocused members of our small and intensely driven team.

EDITORIAL INTERNSHIP

You’ll write for the blog and newsletter, generate ideas for our Six-Word challenges (called SixContests), interact with schools and organizations, and participate in the creative process of the internationally known Six-Word Memoir project. You should know WordPress and Excel, or be willing to learn both.

Responsibilities:

    • Creating Six-Word challenges to drive on-site interaction (contests, etc.)
    • Pick a social media lane and work with the Community Manager to help amplify that lane (e.g. Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok)

    • Being an active participant on SixWordMemoirs.com

    • Strong creative writing skills
    • Ability to work under deadlines
    • Great communication skills
    • An interest in storytelling and education
    • A calm, flexible demeanor

  1. Look through recent Six-Word Memoirs® (sixwordmemoirs.com) and tell us which six among the last 50 that have been submitted you think should be featured as “Editor’s Picks.”
  2. Suggest three six word prompts or challenges for a forthcoming SixContest.
  3. Login to the site, create a profile and start writing Six-Word Memoirs®, at least one with a backstory.
