I'm referring here to Plato's Allegory of the Cave. In which he describes a prisoner from the cave who's been there its entire life, only seeing the shadows, escapes from the cave and steps out into the bright light of the sun, and of course being in the dark so long the prisoner feels intense pain right away and it's kind of scary, but the prisoner is finally out in the real world. Now the sun represents Plato's transcendent of the ultimate Good or the ultimate knowledge, and I think the cave can somehow apply to everyone in life because we all at some point get stuck in a cave and when presented with a new opportunity or adventure, it seems scary or hard right away because we're so used to our normal reality, but in the end we will adjust and things will end up for the good.
