What I Didn't Learn In School

You know, there's a lot to learn in school. Growing up, we learned how to multiply fractions, write five-paragraph essays, and to remember that the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell. Yet while all of these lessons were important, our school education still left us with many unanswered questions. For SixContest #116, we want to hear about the lessons you had to figure out for yourself along the way. Could you do calculus but not your own taxes? Did you ace chemistry, but couldn’t navigate the chemistry you felt with your dreamy lab partner? Were you taught the viable career paths for your skills, but not the ones that would bring you joy? Whether these life lessons were uncovered with ease, or learned the hard way, let us know what you wished you learned in school in Six!

Besides awarding our favorite six-word story our shiny new keychain, we're giving away a second prize: the Sixer with the best backstory will win a Six-Word Memoir book of his or her choice. Be sure to submit your entry as a six and include the link to your backstory here in the comments. And please post only one entry per comment.
