The term “six feet apart” has become all too familiar in the past year. Many of us value our personal space, or private time to relax and de-stress away from work and family. Then again, if you live alone or far from friends the pandemic has provided much too much distance. It seems we’re always looking for some variant of space. For SixContest #137, we’d like to talk about how we think about space.

Some people look to outer space for answers, while others turn inward to meditation to clear their headspace. Relationships because one of the partners “just needs some space” and teachers and parents chide kids for not listening because they’re “spacing out.” In Six Words, tell us about a time you needed some space, or when you needed anything but peace and quiet. As 2021 keeps rolling on, what is your relationship to space?

If you'd like to share a backstory (we love reading them!), be sure to submit your entry as a Six and include the link to the Backstory here in the comments below. Share as many stories as you like, but do post only one entry per comment.
