Past and Future: "Firsts" in Six

It’s a new year: time for making resolutions that are a little too ambitious, for promising to work out more (cheers to that!), for posting selfies with the hashtag #newyearnewme, and maybe for experiencing something for the first time. There’s a certain magic marking a new milestone and seeing how something you’ve yearned for feels for the first time. As we begin 2024 and SixContest #155, we want you to reflect on previous firsts, or something you hope to experience for the first time in the coming year.

Do you remember your first kiss? What were you feeling on day 1 of your first adult job? Could you describe the memory of having your first child? Is there a “first” you’re hoping to have in 2024? Whether it’s a first from years before or a first you hope will arrive in the year ahead, we want to hear your “first” in exactly six words.

If you'd like to share a backstory (we love reading them!), be sure to submit your entry as a Six and include the link to the Backstory in the comments below. Share as many stories as you like, but do post only one entry per comment.

Remember to tag us and include #SixWordFirst when posting your Six Words to Twitter/X, Facebook, and Instagram.
