What did you call your Mother?

What did you call your Mother?

I wondered if this changed for others over the years as it did for me.
As a child it was "Mommy".
As a pre-teen, it was "Mom".
As a teenager, my Mother suffered through years of me whining, loudly, in an exasperated voice
(many times in public) "M-O-T-H-E-RRR!".
Omg, my poor Mom!
As an adult, having watched "I Remember Mama" repeatedly over the years, I realized that
she had been, and always would be, "Mama" to me.
Raising six children, ages 1 1/2, 3, 6, 9, 15 and 18 alone, after my Father died at 41, she was
everything to us: Mother, Father, bread-winner, best friend, confidant, Rock-of-Gibraltar and role-model, whether she wanted to be or not.
My 3 brothers learned how to be good men through the way they treated her; and my sisters and I
learned how to be confident, self-reliant, compassionate women who could be counted on to weather adversity
with dignity and grace.
My Mother was an amazing person who touched everyone who knew her.
I could never aspire to be the person that she was, but I have tried to carry on her legacy of kindness.
I still miss my Mama, no matter how old I get, especially on Mother's Day.
