On January 20, 2014 we honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s birthday with MLK day, a federal holiday and national day of service. Among Dr. King’s many gifts was his ability to spread his message of racial equity and community through the power of words. In celebration of a man who made each word count, this week’s Six-Word Caption Contest asks you to sum up the photo you see above in a half-dozen well-chosen words. Your Six Words could be about Dr. King’s legacy, your experience with equality, race and identity, or what bridge-building means to you—just choose your words wisely.
We’ll share our favorite submissions on the Six-Word blog next week, and send one winner a personalized keytag (pictured, right) with the six words of his or her choice, courtesy of our friends at the super cool design company, Various Projects.
This week’s Six-Word Caption Contest runs through Friday, January 17th, 2014, 5pm EST. Submit your entry in the comments below, on our Facebook page, or tag us on Twitter or Tumblr.
UPDATE: THIS CAPTION CONTEST HAS ENDED. Find out which MLK inspired Six Words made the Top Six and who took home top honors.
