I’ve never seen information travel faster—faster than a teenager’s text message, a Twitter post, or IM—than when that information moves through the Mother Cabal (that my mother is part of the Jewish Mom Cabal means, in my estimation, her mouth moves even faster; but I’ll get in trouble if I keep this thought going much longer). So I was not shocked, but no less delighted, when one Debbie Forman, a family friend I’ve known all my life and my mom most of hers, emailed to say she was writing a story about the six book. Debbie’s the editor-in-chief of Cape Cod View magazine, and a wildly popular columnist for Cape Cod Times. Debbie’s six-word headline is, “Six words can tell a story.” And I don’t know how I could do anything but turn beet red when I read, “I knew Larry Smith when he was a little boy. Now he’s a big author…” hers is story that hits home.
